Revolutionizing Home Diabetes Care: Seamless Remote Management for Better Outcomes

About Client

A leading healthcare provider in India, specializing in diabetes management, engaged iOrbit to implement a remote monitoring solution - enabling enrolled patients to receive expert care and continuous support from the comfort of their homes

Client’s Challenge

The diabetes care provider needed a smarter way to monitor patients at home.

Manual measurements of blood glucose and vitals were error-prone, time-consuming, and dependent on care providers. This caused delays in expert advice and reduced patient independence.

To ensure smooth adoption, the client also required a solution that could seamlessly integrate with their existing patient app while eliminating errors, improving efficiency, and enabling timely remote care.

iOrbit Solution

The diabetes care provider relied on manual data entry during home visits, where care staff recorded measurements from patient-owned devices into their app. This process was time-consuming, error-prone, and delayed care.

iOrbit transformed the workflow with a connected solution using Bluetooth-enabled glucometers, BP monitors, pulse oximeters, and thermometers linked to a simple Android app. Measurements were automatically captured, securely uploaded to iOrbit’s iTouch IoMT cloud platform, and shared with the client’s platform. Patients could now self-monitor without provider assistance.

To ensure flexibility, iOrbit also introduced an OCR-based tool for existing devices without internet capabilities and a Service App integration that embedded connectivity into the client’s existing app with minimal changes.

iOrbit Scope

iOrbit delivered a multi-solution strategy to address the project challenges.

This included :
  • Designing and developing a Service App for seamless integration with an existing native application,
  • Building OCR functionality to support existing devices without internet capabilities, and
  • Creating complete end-to-end workflows.
  • A proof-of-concept integration showcased the flexibility and adaptability of iOrbit’s iTouch IoMT platform, ensuring smooth adoption with minimal changes to the existing ecosystem.

Key Outcomes

  • Enabled patients to continue using existing devices through OCR, thus saving on new device costs
  • Combined use of legacy and new devices reduced overall implementation costs
  • Automated data capture eliminated manual errors, cutting down recording inefficiencies
  • Faster, more reliable data flow improved care delivery and enabled quicker intervention by doctors
